Things that are worth the effort, need a little effort. If you are ever in Rotterdam, I would suggest you make some and bike all the way up to North to take a latte at 33rd street coffee. I never heard anybody about this place, but it has a lot to offer. Fresh pastries, friendly owners and a quiet space for focused occupations (the kind of music that seems to fade after a while). The overall design of the café is sleek and relevant (perfectly random book titles lure from the corner of your eye). Yes, some plants, but tastefully landscaped as opposed to the overwhelming macramé constructions you find the city centre. White-everywhere, radiating, a bit of a Swedish aura. The coffee brand is Giraffe — always fine, and I get a tiny but perfect chocolate-chip on the side. White blossoms and a newspaper on my table. The experience takes me back to Denmark, which I am definitely missing sometimes, mainly due to the never-ending coffee options that I enjoyed so much. How come, goes through my mind, some places remind so much of other ones. I flip the page about a newborn in the zoo (adorable) and take a sip. Just like I read so many books in Copenhagen with a flat white and a cardamom pastry on the side. I haven’t seen those at 33rd. But then again, this is not Denmark. It is just the mind taking a stroll as there is not much going on in my surroundings. I guess, as opposed to the rather long biking trip to get here, the capability of the mind to fantasize is effortless.

Challas for now,
